We'd rather tell you the truth than sell you a country.

Lookup is an independent study-abroad counselling company based in Dallas, Texas, with support teams in Pakistan, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

We help students choose where to study realistically, then handle the applications, the embassy file and the move with them, one counsellor from start to finish.

ChapterIThe problem

Most advice starts with what's easy to sell.

Families spend years saving for a degree abroad. Too often the decision that spends those savings is made in an afternoon: a country chosen because a cousin went there, a university chosen from a ranking, an agent recommending whichever option pays them best.

The cost of a wrong choice isn't only money. It's a refused visa on your record, a course that doesn't lead to the job you wanted, or a year spent somewhere that was never right for you.

A wrong choice costs a year and a family's savings. An honest conversation up front costs nothing.

ChapterIIWhat we decided

Fewer countries. One counsellor. The truth, even when it's no.

We made three decisions that shape everything we do. We cover seven destinations, not fifty, so our counsellors understand the requirements, costs and entry routes in real depth. We give every student one counsellor who stays with them from the first call to the first week abroad, so nobody has to tell their story twice.

And we tell students what we actually think. If your grades point to a different university, a different country or a later intake, you'll hear it in the first conversation, not after the application fees are paid.

The first conversation is about your grades, budget and plans. Not about what we'd like to sell.
ChapterIIIHow it works today

Four stages, one counsellor.

Counsellors specialise by destination: the United States, Italy, the UK, Canada, Australia & New Zealand, and Germany. You're matched with someone who files for the country you're considering. They take you through four stages: shortlisting, applications, embassy file and documents, and preparing to leave.

Most of the work happens over calls and messages, so you can start from anywhere. Our support teams in Pakistan, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh cover the hours you are most likely to need, and you stay with the same counsellor throughout.

Purpose · Mission · Vision
Purpose

To make sure no student spends a family's savings on a decision nobody checked.

Mission

Honest, specialist guidance and hands-on support, from shortlist to arrival, with one counsellor throughout.

Vision

A study-abroad decision any student can make with real confidence.

Our values

What we won't do.

  • Recommend a university because it's easy

Every university on your shortlist is there because it fits you, with the reasoning written down.

  • Promise a visa or an admission

Those decisions belong to governments and universities. Anyone promising them is guessing.

  • Hand you from person to person

The counsellor you start with is the counsellor you finish with.

  • Share your details without asking

Nothing goes to a university or anyone else until you say so.

  • Hide what something costs

Total costs, including the ones universities don't publish, are on the table from the start.

  • Pretend to know every country

Seven destinations, known properly. If you need somewhere else, we'll say so.

Our approach

How a counsellor reads your file.

01 · Realism first

Your chances, not your hopes

We start from what your grades and budget can support, then look for the best version of that.

02 · Subject before country

The course decides a lot

Entry rules, costs and work rights follow from what you study. We start there.

03 · One story

Consistency across every page

Your statement, funds and interview answers need to tell the same story. We make sure they do.

04 · No surprises

You always know the next step

What's happening, what we're waiting on and what's needed from you.
